Paytm has been removed from Google Play. The company has confirmed that the reason for its removal is the recent addition of a fantasy cricket tournament to the app by the company, which violates Google Play policies. The Paytm app for iOS is still available to download through the Apple App Store. In addition to the Paytm app, Google Play has also removed the Paytm First Games app from its store, which includes similar fantasy cricket features, but with real cricket stakes. Now an error text appears in the Google Play list of the Paytm app. It’s, that says, (translated) “Sorry, the requested URL is not available on this server.” Android device users also cannot download the app from preloaded Google Play. However, existing users who already have the application installed on their devices can continue to use the mobile wallet and other services provided by the company. Along with the Paytm app, Paytm First Games is now also available for download via Google Play. Not available for. Earlier on Friday, Google posted a blog detailing the company about its gambling policy, which does not allow app developers to offer sports betting. It was a feature offered by Paytm through the recently announced fantasy cricket tournament, and eventually Google removed the app from its platform. Google said in its blog post (translated) “We do not allow online casinos OR do not support any unregulated gambling applications that facilitate sports betting. This includes that if an application takes users to an external website, which allows them participating in paid tournaments to win real money or cash prizes then it is a violation of our policies. “The company has confirmed that this was the reason for the removal of the Paytm app.
